Revision of Dublin City Flag FINAL:
The flag representing the Irish city of Dublin tries to tie in its own historical significance, which I feel is the correct way to construct a flag. However, the way the Dublin flag is formatted and constructed makes it very unappealing, The amount of detail put into the drawings is excessive, and the colors and shapes are ill-proportionate. The harp is only there because the harp originally was crafted and branded in Ireland, and there is little other significance besides being associated with religious figures. The castles, however, represent three of the major castles built in Dublin that have served as a strong pillar of culture in Dublin. The castles are very popular on their own crest, but the flag itself is not used widely although very culturally embedded. The old flag also incorporates the landmass of Ireland, having the blue segment be the ocean and the green segment representing Dublin's lush green fields. I tried to incorporate this in my version of the flag, with water on both sides representing the fact that Ireland is a large island. I also took out the castles due to their significant cultural impact, and their popularity. The only thing I added was the Celtic Knot in the top middle of the flag, representing the history of Ireland and its original settlers.
